Time out for Miley

Last fall, Avery asked if she could watch a show called Hannah Montana. I watched several episodes with her and it seemed like a decent show, so we let her continue to watch it. She doesn't get to watch most Disney (No Wizards, No Raven, No life w/ Darrick, etc.)
For Christmas, she got Hannah Montana PJ's, microphone, and wig. For her b-day, she got HM t-shirts, another wig, Miley CD, and HM tattoos. She, and her younger sister, LOVE Hannah Montana.

Over the recent months, it has become increasingly clear that Miley is going in a different direction than someone I want my 5 year old to look up to. She has made some choices that put her into a cautionary light, as far as I'm concerned. Now, I feel somewhat trapped. How do I explain to Avery (and McKenna) that they can't watch Hannah Montana anymore? Is this really a big deal, since the show is still the same? How can we put the brakes on the Hannah Montana craze in our household?

Your thoughts, comments, advice, and (constructive) criticisms are extremely welcome and appreciated!

I agree with you that Miley has definitley changed over the last 6 months or so. I don't care what anyone thinks or says, fame does change people, and no one is ever the same when millions of fans, sponsors, and producers are making millions of dollars off of your image. That said, I don't know what the answer is on how to tell the girls they can't watch HM anymore. Maybe try to explain that Miley has chosen to be someone different than the girl God has created her to be, and there are better images we can fill our minds and hearts with. ??? I hope someone else chimes in!--AUNT MARLA

Just to be clear... this HM craze hasn't swept across the male population of our household. Just so you know... :)
